No doubt you've seen these rugs pass by in many interior magazines and media platforms.
Beni Ouarain rugs are known for their geometric patterns and excellent quality. The carpets are entirely hand knotted in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Here, the seamstresses use only the best and unprocessed sheep wool from the ‘Marmoucha’ sheep.
Back in the days, these carpets were used to protect the people from the cold, as they used it as blankets or as a cape. Nowadays, the Beni Ouarain carpets are considered to be the most prestigious carpets from Morocco, trough its timeless appearance and high quality material.
Each rug is different as each pattern is telling an unique story. A story told by the women of the Middle Atlas Mountains.
The rugs usually have an off-white/creamy color and the minimalistic, asymmetrical patterns are usually black, brown or grey.
Due to the fact that an authentic Beni Ouarain rug is very hard to find these days, they are considered to be very rare and vintage. Therefore its almost impossible to find a carpet without minor imperfections that give the rug extra character.
Beni Ouarain rugs, a fascinating tapestry with the ability to connect a piece of Moroccan history to our modern, western and contemporary interiors
Boucherouite Bright and vibrant colors, timeless designs and always unique. Our Boucherouite rugs are one-of-a-kind masterpieces made in the 70s and early 80s by Berber women in Morocco.
Boucherouite actually means ‘leftover materials’ in Moroccan.
Since wool became rarer and rarer in Morocco, more synthetic materials were used.
The rug is made out of countless scraps of old clothes, recycled wool and cotton. It was made into a personal piece that expressed their creativity and fantasy and was used for domestic use by these Berber families.
Therefore, every piece is unique and we like to think of it as a ‘masterpiece’ created by these Berber women.
